A service provided by the main laboratory at OmniGen Research is the determination of fungi/yeast species present in a sample and quantification of the absolute amounts present. This is different from mycotoxin analysis. Here, we quantify the amount of fungi/yeast DNA present in a biological sample. For quantification, DNA is extracted from your sample after which specific DNA primers are used for quantitative PCR. Standards of various fungi and yeast DNA have been obtained and are used in standard curves to then provide you with a precise determination of how much fungal/yeast contamination exists in your sample. Biological samples that we routinely assess include feeds, tissues, manure and liquids. Assays are typically completed twice per week and we strive for a 2-3 day response time.
In addition, we assay blood samples from livestock for the presence of specific molecular biomarkers on neutrophils and other white blood cells. These biomarkers include L-selectin [CD62L] and interleukin 8-receptor [IL8R]. Customers may also order blood sampling kits to enable them to efficiently submit samples for these assays. Details on how to order blood sampling kits are available under the Blood Sampling Kit link.
To utilize our laboratory services, you will need to Login on our Login page and establish a customer account. Your results will be posted on your account 2-3 days following receipt of sample. If you have any questions on how to establish an account, how to submit a sample or how to retrieve your results from our website, please call us Toll-free at 1-855-TRY-OGAF (855-879-6423). You will receive an invoice for the analytical work early in the month following the analysis.
