This kit is designed to quickly preserve small quantities of blood samples for preservation of RNA. Biological samples are rich in nucleases (e.g., RNases) which must be inactivated anytime work with intact RNA is needed. The reagent supplied in this kit allows for rapid inactivation of RNases in biological samples.
Contents of the kit include:

- 12 Vacutainers (4.5 ml. containing citric acid)
- 12 Vacutainer needles ( 20 Ga.)
- 1 Vacutainer holder
- 12 sample tubes (1.5 ml each)
- Preservation solution (7-8 ml: WARNING CAUSTIC!)
- 13 sterile, graduated, individually-wrapped, disposable pipettes
- 1 padded shipping envelope (pre-addressed to Immunology Lab at OmniGen Research)
- 2 Sample data sheets (SDS)
- 2 latex gloves
- Pencil
Warnings: Sampling of blood should be carried-out by trained, competent individuals. Properly and safely restrain animals prior to sampling blood. Wear proper safety equipment including eye protection and latex gloves. Samples of arterial and venous blood are acceptable. Do not use kit after expiry date. DO NOT MAIL GLASS TUBES. The pink-colored preservation fluid contains phenol and is CAUSTIC. Make sure you avoid dripping this solution on your skin or clothing. Use latex gloves (supplied in the kit) when dispensing the solution to minimize exposure. If you do drip some on yourself, wash off as quickly as possible. If the solution gets in your eyes, flush immediately with large quantities of water.
